Michael and I (Seamus) have decided that its time to fulfill our promise and be more diligent in posting articles of interest to our blog "Lagniappe." If you are not familiar with "lagniappe," our pup Zeus will tell y'all about it on our New You Tube channel if you click here.
WOW, it has been more than six years ago we dreamed the idea of a "Peaceful Kingdom Farm" drawing the inspiration of our two beloved dogs, Zeus and Lil' Bit and our kitty Eva who happen to be the best of friends. Since then we have added Dixon and Apollo Kitty to our growing family that we hope to grow even more by adding children that we foster, adopt, OR we are blessed to find a surrogate.
Our logo, as has gone through transformations from our original design. It is now composed of a crown, dove of peace, and adorned with fleur-de-lis hence: “Peaceful Kingdom.” Each element was carefully thought to bring awareness to the things that are most important to us: Our Faith, Our Family and Our Love! We also wanted to incorporate items representative of our two families.
The crown represents our responsibility dedication, honor, humility and wisdom. The Dove is our symbol of care, devotion, purity and peace. It soothes and quiets our worried or troubled thoughts, enabling us to find renewal in the silence of the mind.
with it’s three "petals," to us, represents the Holy Trinity, our Creator.
Peaceful: Untroubled by conflict, agitation, or commotion devoid of violence or force.
Kingdom: the realm (Earth) in which God, Our Creator's will is fulfilled.
We ask that you would take the journey with us. Our original plan was to buy and create a self-sustaining farm and continue to produce environmentally responsible products for our consumers.
It seems that many of us have had a bit or reassessment over the last 2 years dealing with Covid-19 and really were able to determine what is most important to us, our world and our Universe. Michael and I have made the decision to move back to the rural farms of our ancestors that have been in our family for more than 100 years! We will be the 4th generation and are excited to share our story and life with you!
Our new friends and repeat customers have wanted to know more about us so here we go… if you have heard about the story of the country mouse and the city mouse… well that's us!
Seamus grew up on a small farm in Northern Louisiana where there were more cows than people. Thanks to his parents he and his brother David were the first two in their family to graduate college. Seamus started his education at Louisiana Tech University and completed it at Louisiana State University. He has degrees in Business Management, Accounting, Science and a MBA in Finance that he completed while living and working in Boston. Seamus has taught students from first grade to college and corporate training. He also was a part owner in a Celtic Pub “The Ceilidh House.”
Michael’s childhood was spent in a large college town and has lived in Scotland and Australia. His parents were both professors at Pennsylvania State University. “Doc” taught physics and math and Mrs. Maggie “Mom” was an English Professor. Michael graduated from PSU (Pennsylvania State University) with a degree in Art and Architecture. Michael is a talented, world renowned artist and has shown his work in New York at the Brookland Academy of Music, Gaberial Pizzi in Seattle, and Pinoteaka Gallery in Melbourne Australia. He moved back to the States and cared for his ailing Mom for more than eight years. Michael felt like he needed to do something for himself… so he started talking to other gay men to find an outlet from his daily endeavors...Well little would he know that he was soon to meet the man of his dreams and marry him. Blessed indeed!
We are symbiotic in every way and find great strength in each other’s ideas and creative attitudes and ideals for nature and world.
Our “big picture” and goal now is to resurrect self-sustaining farms that will produce environmentally responsible products and tasty eats for our community. A year-round leadership and educational program Similar to the “Fresh Air Fund” and Farm to Table restaurant; "The Peaceful Farm Table". We know that it sounds like a lot to undertake but this is our calling. Just the other day we revisited our business plan and our initial focus was Artisan cheese and yogurts and possibly candles and soaps. Well, we started completely opposite! It took over a year to find the right vendors that would allow our dream of producing products that are from sustainable and renewable resources.
We plan on adding more products soon and will be sharing some of our favorite recipes with you as well.
This is a brief synopsis of our eclectic backgrounds and some of our experiences. We will add more to our blog # Lagniappe as time goes and will ask all of you to follow us on our journey.
